Not good enough

Germany’s exit from the World Cup group stages shocked the world, but now one of their players has come out and admitted the truth – they simply weren’t at the races.

Mesut Ozil was poor, and was even dropped for the first time in 26 games at the World Cup and European Championships, and has been very candid about the tournament and admitted that the side needed to do more – and that it will take some time to get over.

There may not be a chance for Joachim Low to redeem himself, given the odds on him leaving the national team have tumbled since the shocking performances.

Ozil took to Instagram and wrote: “We just weren’t good enough. I’ll need some time to get over it.”

The national team isn’t the only worry for Ozil. Arsenal were far from good enough last season, and will have to do much better next term.

Not only will Ozil not have Arsene Wenger as the main man to attract the criticism, but new manager Unai Emery has made it very clear he won’t be taking any passengers next season – and has already shown Jack Wilshere the door.

Now, Ozil knows he will have to do far better in terms of his performances and will not be able to go missing as much as he did last season, when he seemed to pop in and out of games for fun – much to the annoyance of all the fans.
