Salomon Rondon wants to make Newcastle move permanent

Salomon Rondon joined Newcastle on August 6th from West Brom on a season-long loan. This loan move also saw Dwight Gayle make the switch to West Brom. ‘It’s a pleasure to work with him’ But despite Rondon’s move only being a loan. The striker has been very vocal about making the move a permanent one. Speaking before Newcastle’s game with Cardiff, Rondon stated, “I first heard of the interest two months ago but negotiations were difficult. I was just waiting. When I gave the answer that I wanted to come here, I was expecting it to happen but it was difficult. “I remember the first call from Rafa (I couldn’t believe it). ‘Hello, this is who?!. “He told me they were interested in me and would I like to come. Of course! It was a pleasure. I obviously know a lot about Rafa in the football world. It is a pleasure to work with him, to see his tactics, his ideas. “Yes, moving here permanently is my personal target. And the only way to do that of course is to score goals train really, really hard to hold on to my place.” STOKE ON TRENT, ENGLAND – JANUARY 01: Rafael Benitez, Manager of Newcastle United shows appreciation to the fans after the Premier League match between Stoke City and Newcastle United at Bet365 Stadium on January 1, 2018 in Stoke on Trent, England. Unai Emery confident Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette can work well together

Unai Emery took over Arsenal earlier this year and one of the problems Emery inherited was who to play as Arsenal’s main striker. Aubameyang or Lacazette Arsenal signed Alexandre Lacazette in July of 2017 for a fee of around £47m. In his first season at the Gunners, Lacazette would net 14 goals in 32 Premier League games. However, despite Lacazette having a decent start, Arsenal still felt the need to sign another striker in the January window. The striker Arsenal signed was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a fee of around £57m. Aubameyang played 13 league games for Arsenal last season, in which he scored 10 and assisted four, a super record. But given that both strikers had solid goal tallies last season, Emery has a problem of who to start up front this season. No Pain No Gain A post shared by Alex Lacazette (@lacazettealex) on Jul 6, 2018 at 7:48am PDT In Arsenal’s opening game of the season, Emery decided to start Aubameyang. But, after Aubameyang had little joy in front of goal, Lacazette was brought on to partner him up top. This certainly helped Arsenal out and they looked much brighter going forward. Due to their solid end to the game vs City, Emery is now considering playing both Lacazette and Aubameyang up top for Arsenal. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: Onus on out-of-favour players to regain place in squad

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has today revealed that he ‘cannot make’ every member of his squad ‘happy’, amid major competition for places among the Reds’ fringe players. Liverpool 4-0 West Ham Liverpool took on West Ham United in their opening Premier League outing of the campaign last weekend, with the Merseyside giants having made short work of Manuel Pellegrini’s men en route to a 4-0 win. Sadio Mane (2), Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge bagged the goals on the day, with the Reds having laid down an early marker to the rest of the English top-flight that they are ready to challenge for the title this season. Dominic Solanke, Ragnar Klavan (who has since joined Cagliari) and Alberto Moreno were just 3 of those to have missed out on a place in the matchday squad versus West Ham, and, with the likes of Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip still to return, competition for places at Anfield looks set to be fiercer than ever this season. ‘Always have a chance to change the situation’ As such, speaking in anticipation of his side’s visit to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Monday, Jurgen Klopp was drawn on the subject of the players whom he chose not call up last weekend, as well as those who may miss out in

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hits back at Spurs transfer critics

After Tottenham became the first side not to sign a single player in a transfer window since the concept was introduced in 2003, Tottenham have come under a lot of criticism and many people have written them off as title contenders.  ‘It’s easy to give your opinion freely’ However, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has himself, in a recent interview, hit back at those who have been criticising Spurs. “Maybe one day I can say: ‘It’s going to be a big mistake [not to sign players], he is going to pay,'” he said. “But then the next day — after two wins against Newcastle and, maybe, Fulham — I say: ‘Keeping the squad together is a massive advantage over a team that signed maybe 10 players. “I love it because you’re not going to remember what you said or what the people said 10 months ago, or five months ago or two months ago. “It’s easy to give your opinion freely. I was in a position where I criticised when I finished my playing career. ‘You don’t take decisions, you talk’ “I’d say: ‘He should do this, or the manager that, or this team should do that.’ Because you don’t take decisions, you talk. “When you are in my position — and many players that have become managers [are] — then you say: ‘Wow! I never believed it could be as difficult as this. “It’s because of the consequences. When you take a decision the consequences can be positive or negative. The people that give their opinions? They say: ‘Ah, I knew! I knew that was going to happen! “If we win then they’ll say: ‘Tottenham was clever to keep all the players together.’ If we don’t have success they will say: ‘It’s normal, they made a mistake. They didn’t

Man United told to build their team around Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba is a key man Danny Higginbotham has claimed Man United need to build their side around Paul Pogba. The pundit said that Pogba has shown United what he can do, and they need to respond in kind. Everyone is talking about him. I think he is a phenomenal player. “It’s about giving him a licence to get forward, to go and create, to go and join in as well because he is such an important player for them. “One hundred per cent I would be building the team around him. I think it was a very good idea to give him the captaincy last week against Leicester and I really think he took that in his stride. I’ll always give my best to the fans and my teammates no matter what’s going on. #pogfeelings A post shared by Paul Labile Pogba (@paulpogba) on Aug 10, 2018 at 3:22pm PDT He is a player that has everything. I would like to see him more in the attacking sense and having that insurance behind him. “I think sometimes people want to have a little bit of a go at him because of the way he may act off the pitch. “Personally, as an individual, I don’t care. When he’s performing on the football pitch you go and do whatever you want to do, to a certain extent.” Jose Mourinho & Mauricio Pochettino during The Emirates FA Cup Semi Final match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on April 21, 2018 in London, England. Robbie Savage claims patience is needed with Unai Emery at Arsenal

Things may get worse before they get better Former Premier League star Robbie Savage has claimed that patience is going to be needed if Unai Emery is to succeed at Arsenal. The former Paris Saint-Germain boss took over at Arsenal this summer following Arsene Wenger’s exit. Wenger decided to call time on his Gunners career following a poor few seasons at the club. Now, Unai Emery is looking to take Arsenal back to the top but it’s not going to be a quick fix. (Photo by Dan Istitene/Getty Images) He needs ‘three or four transfer windows minimum’ Robbie Savage has taken it a step further by claiming it could take Emery up to four transfer windows to get it right. Not only that, things could get worse before they get better. “Empires are not built in a day, and Arsenal will need to give new manager Unai Emery three or four transfer windows to make his mark,” he explained in his latest Mirror column.  “Just as Pep Guardiola needed a year to bed in at City, before his team plundered 100 points in record-breaking style last season, Arsenal will need to be patient with Emery. “For his philosophy to take root, and his winning mentality to take effect, he needs time. Three or four [transfer] windows minimum. “And if that means another season finishing outside the top four, while he moulds a team in his own image, then so be it. Maybe you have other problems playing away, you have to defend very well, careful with the counter-attack. “Bournemouth is a very good team also, I hope we have the personality we need to start at home winning the first game.” SUNDERLAND, ENGLAND – MARCH 05: Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City (L) comes on for Yaya Toure of Manchester City (R) during the Premier League match between Sunderland and Manchester City at Stadium of Light on March 5, 2017 in Sunderland, England. Alexis Sanchez reveals big aims for Man United this season

Alexis has high hopes for Man United Alexis Sanchez has noted that he thinks Man United are one of the best teams in the world. The Chile international said the Red Devils are as good as Real Madrid and Barcelona, and on the top of the world stage. Many people may disagree with that, considering United aren’t even the best side in England, but Sanchez believes in his club side. “I think Manchester United on the world stage are one of the top clubs around, up there with Madrid and Barcelona,” Sanchez said in an interview with the Premier League. “The thing they have in their mentality is to go out there and win everything. “You get the top players on board and you go out there to try and win every trophy and competition that you enter. “That’s how we are and need to be.” MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – MAY 13: Marcus Rashford of Manchester United celebrates his goal with Juan Mata of Manchester United and Alexis Sanchez of Manchester United during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Watford at Old Trafford on May 13, 2018 in Manchester, England. The player has struggled since joining United from Arsenal. Now, it seems that he needs to retain the ball and bring his confidence levels up. Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson said as much when speaking about Alexis. “Sanchez has been a bit-part player for Manchester United since he’s been there,” Robson said to ESPN.  “Even in the first game against Leicester, he did one or two good things, but he gave the

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s agent provides injury update

The agent of Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, Patrick De Koster, has revealed that the Belgian has suffered a similar injury that previously kept him sidelined for around 2 months, although he has avoided ligament damage, he told Sportza. During the Premier League champion’s training session on Wednesday, the 27-year-old suffered a major knee injury during an outdoor session, with the damage understood to be similar to the injury which kept him out for 66 days back in 2016. De Bruyne has since travelled to Barcelona, where he will visit Pep Guardiola’s favourite doctor Ramon Cugat, to undergo tests on his right knee to learn the full extent of the injury. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images) Fortunately for the Premier League champions, De Bruyne has appeared to have avoided ligament damage which could have ruled him out of action for around 6-9 months, according to his agent. The World Cup bronze medalist was scheduled to undergo tests today in Barcelona with an expectancy that De Bruyne will miss around 2 months worth of action. De Koster told Sportza:  “I had him on the phone for a few minutes and he confirmed to me that he had injured himself on training the same knee this morning as he did then, and it felt the same. “Then there were no ligaments torn, and that’s the most important thing, then we talk about 6 to 9 months of absence, Kevin did not think that happened, tomorrow’s medical tests will bring more clarity about how bad or bad it will be.” De Bruyne update: “Same as 2 years ago” Back
