Yerry Mina looking to do big things with Everton this season

Ambitious

New Everton defender Yerry Mina is not looking to just settle at the Toffees and wants the club to fight for ‘something’ in the coming seasons.

The Colombian defender impressed during the World Cup in Russia, becoming the first defender to score in his first three appearances before being knocked out by England.

While he was a quality player for his nation, there was little chance of him getting into the first team at Barcelona.

The club signed Sevilla defender Clément Lenglet to push him further down the pecking order and left him looking for other opportunities.

Everton were looking to be that opportunity and made their move weeks ago but only completed a deal today.

Stand up and be counted

Now, Mina has been speaking about his ambitions with Everton and has explained that he wants the club to ‘fight for something’.

“It is important that the Club want to fight for something,” Mina told evertontv.

“This is why I am here. I have watched the Premier League for a long time.

“It is the best league in the world. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.

“I know about Everton’s players and I look forward to being able to play with my new team.

“I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful. I am also determined to do my best for Everton.”

Everton could be set to sign Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma after transfer deadline

Mina could still get a new central defensive partner come into the club this evening.

That is because a move for Kurt Zouma is still on the cards even after the transfer deadline passed.
